Oriflame Cosmetics today announced that it has acquired the company Nordium AB and its production facility near Stockholm in order to meet strong growth in demand. Sven Mattsson, Oriflame's CEO, says the acquisition will have several major benefits: "Especially in our Central and Eastern European markets we have been experiencing strong growth in demand, meaning that we have to expand our production capacity. This acquisition will give us greater control over our production and product development in these fast-growing segments, which is also in line with our production strategy. Moreover, we expect that the acquisition will have a positive net effect on our profit after taxes as early as this year." The Nordium plant, located in Ekerö just outside of Stockholm, is a modern, highly automated production facility used for manufacturing toiletries and fragrances. Originally owned by Henkel Nordic AB, the 19,000 sqm facility was built in 1984; Nordium AB took over the facility in 1997. "Being proud of our heritage, we are pleased to be able to strengthen our presence in Sweden. We will invest in improving the facility, and will also be hiring more people", adds Sven Mattsson. Anders Krantz, Nordium's current CEO and co-owner, comments that "Oriflame’s proposal will safeguard the jobs of our workforce in Ekerö."
