We believe that corporations have the same moral responsibilities as individuals. Oriflame's ethical and environmental principles cover everything from materials to factory conditions. We want the people who make our products to be able to do so without risking their health, and with fair compensation. Oriflame has also taken a firm stand against child labour. Our respect for nature extends into every area of our company. We have never tested, nor commissioned the testing, of ingredients on animals. For years Oriflame has used only paper from managed forests in catalogues, and it has long been company policy not to use PVC. Whenever possible we use recycled materials and energy-saving means of transportation. Oriflame contributes to the communities in which we operate, not only by providing income opportunities through our distribution method, but also through charity programmes on a regional and a global level, like our involvement in the World Childhood Foundation and Livslust – both under the patronage of Queen Silvia of Sweden. We are continuously developing our social compliance programme with the goal of becoming even better corporate citizens. Defending the rights of children Every child has a right to a childhood, to security, joy, playfulness and curiosity about life. Every child has a right to grow up and develop socially and intellectually. But many children are denied these fundamental rights. That's why Oriflame helped to found the World Childhood Foundation. Through them we reach out to the world's most vulnerable children: street children, sexually abused children and children in institutions. Together, we promote projects for girls and young mothers – since few others do. Oriflame supports the World Childhood Foundation in many ways. Apart from the co-founder contribution, we also sponsor a variety of projects in the markets where we operate. Currently, Oriflame gives extra support to projects benefiting children in Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Russia and Poland. By choosing Oriflame, you make a difference – and you make it possible for us to contribute even more. Learn more about World Childhood Foundation at www.childhood.org Bringing hope where there is none Livslust (Dzivesprieks) is a very special school. It gives hope for the future and provides vocational education and social rehabilitation for struggling teenagers in Latvia. Most of these teenagers have spent their whole lives in orphanages and educational institutions. Before arriving at the school, they have little hope and few, if any, of the skills needed to build a good life. Livslust was founded in 1994. The students combine general subjects like English, mathematics and social skills with practical training in construction, sewing, agriculture, computer skills, cooking or carpentry. By learning a trade, they create the foundation for a better future for themselves. The Livslust school is financed by donations from sponsors, and Oriflame has been an active contributor from the very start. |
